About GA Racers Speed Academy

Coach Gerald Williams Bio

Gerald Williams currently teaches Computer Science in the Gwinnett County School System.  He has served as a track & field and football coach for more than 15 years.  Hailing from Decatur, Gerald grew up being interested in the science of speed.  His interest led him to be a multiple-time state champion in high school track, and led to him receiving a scholarship to play football at the University of Oklahoma.   After a 4-year collegiate playing career, Gerald had a 3-year stint in the NFL with the Philadelphia Eagles, Green Bay Packers, Oakland Raiders, Chicago Bears and the NFL Europe’s Scottish Claymores, mostly spending time on the practice squad.

Since his playing days, Coach Williams has gone on to mentor countless high school athletes to record-setting performances in track & field and football, most notably Da’Norris Searcy and Dorren Miller in the NFL, Brittany Porter (LSU), Elexis Guster (U of Oregon), Jirah Simpkins (Kennesaw State), Saraphina Massaquoi, Jasmine Hobson (Arizona St.), and Christion Barker (Miss. State) in track & field, to name a few.  He has also coached countless others to state-, and county record setting performances and championships.  In recent years, his Shiloh High Track & Field teams completed 3 top-4 finishes at the GHSA State track meet, highlighted by championships in 2019 and 2022, and a 4th-place finish in 2023.  Outstanding performances from those Shiloh teams include: All-time #1 GA in the 4x400 relay with a 3:09.8 (ranked 6th nationally), 100 and 200m state championships by Jazmine Hobson in 2019 (ranked 7th US in 100 meters), All-time Gwinnett records in the 110 hurdles by George Benjamin (13.74) & Bryce Southerland (13.87), and the All-time Gwinnett 300 hurdles record by Christion Barker (36.75).

Understanding that athletic performance is a blend of correct biomechanics, applied physics, and repetition, Coach Williams applies a science-based approach to increasing speed & agility, training the various energy systems responsible for enhancing speed and movement.  His lifelong belief in education has led Coach Williams to obtain USATF Level 2 certification, as well as a Master’s in Instructional Technology.

"You don't get what you wish for, you get what you work for."
